The Aboriginal people of Australia believe all living beings, as well as inanimate objects such as wind, rain and fire, to have a common divine origin. Thus, all things are considered to be a part of one entity. Men (and sometimes women-referred to as women's business) from each local group form a lodge of initiated members to worship natural species and phenomena. During certain times of the year sacred relics are anointed with blood or red ochre and fat for use in rituals. The photomicrograph above illustrates crystallites of red ochre.
